Air Operate Double Diaphragm Pumps

Argal “Astra range” air operated double diaphragm pump or AODD pump is operated by compressed air and is intrinsically safe. It can run submerged in liquid. Thermoplastic Diaphragms

Offer high chemical resistance, abrasion resistance and long life; are made of Keyflex®, Santoprene® and Polyurethane; the broad range of application these materials are adequate to, eases the choice of the correct pump execution.

Elastomeric Diaphragms

Deploy blend of rubbers embedding nylon made reinforcing mesh designed to increase their mechanical resistance. Most common elastomeric rubbers are nitrile (NBR) and ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) based. On request we deliver also fluorinated rubber FKM diaphragms (e.g.: Viton®).

PTFE Diaphragms

PTFE is the fluoropolymer material with the broadest chemical resistance. Our PTFE diaphragms are manufactured with a special process to be flexible and resistant. In our ASTRA pumps the PTFE diaphragm is always backed up by a rear diaphragm of thermoplastic rubber which increases the resistance and its service life.

Safe

The pump design allows high suction lift even at drystart and with heavier fluids.

If external material are compatible, then the pump can run submerged in the liquid by simply running the exhaust line above the liquid level

Portable and simple installation

ARGALAIR pump can be easily transported to the application site. Simply connect your air supply line and liquid lines and the pump is ready to perform. There is no complex control for installing and operating.

Handles a wide variety of fluids with high solids content

No close fitting or rotating parts so liquids with high solids content can be easily pumped, actually any liquids with max of 90% solids.

Dead-head

Because the discharge pressure can never exceed air inlet pressure, the discharge line can be closed with no damage or wear. The pump will simply slow down and stop.


Performing

ASTRA AODD pumps with sizes from ½” to 2” offer incresed flow compared to common pumps of the same size. This translates in an economical advantage for smaller and less expensive pump delivers equal performances or in technical advantage for same pump size delivers same performances at lesser strokes per minute with reduced mechanical stress and wear of all parts. For these reasons the user enjoys longer operational life, lesser LCC ( Life Cycle Cost ) less vibration and attenuated noise compared to conventional pumps.

Equipped

All ASTRA pumps can be preset to;

  • Operate at extra low pressure with diaphragms’ actuation circuit independent from pilot command circuit;
  • Detect the number of pumping cycles by normalised probe.
  • Supply pneumatic signals in response to the end of run positions reached by the diaphragms;
  • Operarte as pumps submerged in the liquid pumped (optional configuration)

Auxiliary connections to implement the a.m. optional features and modes of use are lodged in the technical panel placed near the air exaust.


Customised layout for hydraulic connections

Hydraulic connections of Astra pumps can be configured accordingly to several schemes;

The standard scheme foresee one manifold with horizontal lateral inlet and one manifold with horizontal lateral outlet;

The optional schemes foresee one manifold with horizontal inlet and one manifol with horizontal outlet, or a mix of the two types

Drum pump version

It is a special version fitted with optional suction pipe long up to 2 metres, made of same wet materials as the pump and allows to prime from drums pure and viscous chemicals even in hazardous enviaronment.
